It is often assumed that the starting point of John 6 is the breaking of the bread in the context of thanksgiving (Eucharist), and there are sound arguments for this. But what if we view this as a lesson of God’s generosity and prosperity rather than a meeting of the needs of the hungry people?
It could well be, to borrow from the French, a case of a revolution.
