Luke doesn’t just record what happened. He opens a door. The gospel isn’t a record of the past. It’s an invitation. Each story, each parable, each teaching is not a list of facts but a living thing. We are drawn into the very heart of God’s truth. We are invited to let these words shape us, encourage us, and take us further into faith.

As St Peter’s by the Lake marks 65 years of continuous worship and 50 years as a consecrated space, we remember that the Church is not an institution. The Church is a living body. It is Christ’s body. We don’t just talk about the Resurrection here; we live it. The Church is a place of shelter for the believer and a lamp for those who seek. It is a place where faith takes hold and community grows. Worship is how we carry the light of Christ into the world.

The Holy Spirit led Paul and the first believers beyond what they could see. God is still leading us. In a world that is so determined to close our minds, the Spirit is saying ’Open’. That’s not advice. That’s a command. We are being called to let the Spirit lead us, to trust that God is always drawing us into new life.

We are called to turn our hearts. To let the Spirit lead. Grace is not meant to remain in the Church. It goes out; it changes us, and through us, it touches our communities and the world. When we let the Spirit lead, we become agents of peace; we become builders of community; we become signs of love that reach across every divide.

As we read Luke and remember who we are as Church, let us hold this story of faith very close indeed. It’s a story that sends us out to proclaim the good news, to live what we believe, to take our place in the unfolding of the promise. Let’s walk together, led by the Spirit, open to all that God can do when we say yes.
